Oh no it can't... ie kick it's own ass for you will note that it's knees bend the opposite way. About the best it could do would be knee it's own ass However, because of that clever knee and those very big toes, it could open you up from chin to crotch very easily. In SA they tell you to lie down (quickly) if attacked by a male ostritch as, all it can do is stamp on you (again that funny knee ) this is a true story (would I lie to you) Have you thought that the Death Bird and his ofsider (Junior Death Bird) may well have been sent down to punish you after your flippant remarks re you and Jesus ??? Of course we all know why they are called Ostritch ???? If you had to lay an egg that size...it would Regards Allen
I was sure I was going to see a cassowary. They're scarier than ostrich or emu.
It looked like it was going to peck The Wah's brains out there in that first bit.
But I have a friend, Tozza, who has a scar on his right forearm that is about 4 inches long, and over an inch wide. That arm, saved his life, when a male ostrich kicked him when he was working on an ostrich farm. If he hadn't thrown his arm up across his body, it would have disemboweled him.
Emu are really gentle though. We used to call them when I was a kid, they're so curious they'll come and sticky-beak at anything.

I for one welcome our new avian overlords.
