Clumsy Competition: RUG!

It's an exciting day at girlclumsy.com - I'm launching my very first proper competition!

Last week I was approached by Maree from Buyster Rugs. They're a part of buyster.com.au - an Australian online homewares & furniture store.

Very kindly, Maree offered me a prize to give away to a reader of girlclumsy.com - a free rug, worth up to $75.00, including postage & handling!

Now, I don't know about you, but this has got me pretty darn excited. So many kind, smart, funny and no doubt incredibly attractive people visit and comment here on girlclumsy.com - it makes me very happy to be able to offer a prize!

Entering is simple:
  1. Visit Buyster Rugs and have a look at some of the styles.
  2. Leave a comment on this entry, copy the link to the rug you like, and write at least one sentence about why it would suit your room/house/villainous super-lair. You can be as creative as you like!
  3. If you do not have a Blogger/Wordpress/LiveJournal et al verified login, you must leave an identifying name or internet handle (so I can find you on Facebook or Twitter), or an email (leave gaps between words; that should prevent spamming). You can use the same name/email for multiple entries.  Completely anonymous entries won't be counted.
The competition closes at 9pm (AEST) this Friday 12 March, 2010. Over the weekend, I'll choose the winner, and announce it next Monday 15 March (the Ides of March!).

The victor will then receive a voucher for any Buyster Rug worth up to $75.00 - plus they'll throw in postage and handling within Australia.

I think this is a fabulous prize, particularly because you get to choose what you want! Happy competing - and keep reading below for all the important disclosure stuff.

Conditions of Entry:
  1. Buyster Rugs only posts within Australia, so you're welcome to enter if you're outside the Land Down Under - but you will have to have it posted to a friend in Australia, and get them to forward it to you at your own cost.
  2. You can enter as many times as you like.
  3. This isn't a game of chance; I'll pick the winner based on the charm and/or creativity of their entry.
  4. If you win, your prize is ANY Buyster Rug worth up to $AUD75.00. If you want something worth more than that, you will be able to pay the difference.

About Buyster Rugs (should you wish to purchase from them regardless!)

  • Secure payment system with 128 Bit SSL encryption.
  • Acceptable payment methods: Visa/MasterCard/American Express credit card; Visa/MasterCard debit card; PayPal.
  • Buyster Rugs will accept any returns within 30 days of the customer receiving the item, no questions asked. They will refund your purchase price less two delivery fees (for outward and inbound delivery). The item must be returned in its original condition.

  • Buyster.com.au is a joint venture between CSN Stores and Netus.
Finally, I want to point out I am making absolutely no profit out of this competition!

      Snakes and Ladders Rug

I work from home, and lately I have been procrastinating far less than usual. This rug would solve all my problems and give me plenty to do when I stare at the floor, and improve my counting, too.

Life is black and white, with shades of grey. all parts of life intertwine with each other, life has been captured and mimiced onto this rug. and as i am a master of life, i feel this rug belongs to me, and you are the one who can provide the way for this rug to be with me.

A warm day, i walked down the street as the sweet cherry blossoms gave up there grasp on life and sored to a eternity beneath my feet. as they brushed my face on the way down i sensed an overwhelming presence of authority and grace, i turned to face the slowly setting sun, i was blinded for a minute as my eyes slowly began to ajust i saw the figure of woman with hair like liquid ruby, and skin like smooth pearl. Her gemstone eyes met mine, we did not speak for we both knew what came next, she reached into he Guess bag and pulled out a peice of paper, a violet wind grabbed her hand anf force her to let go of the paper, as the theiving wind passed me with the paper in it's grasp i reach out and stole the paper back, "$75.00 Rug Voucher". With a slight bow of her head, the mysterious ruby haired pearl skinned woman disapered into the sunset. when i returned home and went to my room there was a picture of a cherry blossom rug on my door, it followed the same colout scheme as my room, and i knew it was destiny to have that rug in my room.

Why I think it would suit my underground lair - As you know I am mighty stressed, and this rug relaxes me to the point where I need to hybernate for months at a time - hence why you haven't seen me at impro much lately! ;)

I have ALWAYS wanted a shag rug. Not only because I giggle immaturely at the word shag, but because I live in a very old apartment with worn carpeting. It would be heaven to come home and run my bare footsies (or perhaps other body parts, as the name suggests...) over a purple shag rug. Plus it would add an air of authentic 70's-ness to fondue evenings.

Until I have a rug, I cannot set up my drum kit on the nice hardwood floors in my new house. And until I can drum, I will not be a happy and fulfilled human being.

Also, you can come over to my house and play the nice drums once I have a rug. I will give you ice-cream and encourage you to use the double-kick pedals.

The floor in the photo looks EXACTLY like what I've just had installed in my apartment, so it makes sense to pick this beautiful rug... and I love the colour, which matches my red kitchen appliances.

      Track City Road Kids Rug

with this rug, i hope my kids can be transported into a land of peace and playtime that doesn't involve wrapping themselves around my legs while i attempt to not spill freshly boiled pasta all over them. there's a strong possibility that it will give me greater procrastinatory freedom from those uni assignments that will start piling up in the next couple of weeks. but mostly, i want to stop spilling hot food on my children, i've been told it's a "bad thing".

    11. This rug would suit me for the following complelling reasons:

      1. It is not white. Now this may concern most people, but owning a pure white kitty with a penchance for rug dwelling it does. Stepping on said kitty lists in one of my 10 least favourite things to do.

      2. It is not made of cat hair - as previously rugs in the centre of my loungeroom floor have been. (unintentionally of course, we do not run a cat hair farming/ weaving enterprise).

3.It is not white. Now while this reason may seem the same as point 1, let me assure you, it is not. My darling, gorgeous husband whom I love tenderly, is infuriatingly OCD and prefers white for all interior decorating. Since dissuading him that living in the Arctics would pose some difficulties, he has settled at trying to recreate this environment within our house. Now, white is a wonderful colour, pure, clean and fresh. But not for EVERYTHING.

So please Girlsclumsy, same me from a pure white house that would inevitable lead to such rage as to commit the type of passionate crime that may taint my pure white haven with the blood spatters of ny nearest and dearest.

      Cheers, da bean.

This rug would be perfect for our place because it looks like an abstract representation of the white roses the card soldiers planted for the Queen of Hearts instead of the red roses ... and with my Alice in Wonderland obsession, it'd look right at home ... Also, being that at least one of our two black cats would inevitably claim it as their own, it would happily save the rest of the house from its/their masses of molting black fur ;)
